Harlan Holmes, 38, a marathon runner from Bowling Green, Kentucky, is training for his third 50K, the “Pistol Ultra,” in Alcoa, Tennessee. This race will bring him to an estimated total of 774.5 miles completed through three 50K’s, 20 marathons and 12 half-marathons.

Mental health is shown to worsen in college, according to BestColleges' website. According to an American College Health Association 2023 national survey mentioned on the website, 33% of the over 55,000 undergraduate students are diagnosed with anxiety, 28% with depression, 7% with eating disorders and 7% with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Patrick Boggs, 50, loves to give back to the community, but his family is “my everything,” he said. With his want to help as well as build relationships, he currently serves as the school resource officer at Mason County High School in Maysville, Kentucky, the same school his daughter attends as a student.

The Western Kentucky University Agriculture Farm in Bowling Green, Kentucky, provides for WKU’s campus, from farming vegetables, watering flowers, taking care of cows and goats, milking cows and more. Horticulture Technician Jon Parker, Dairy Manager Shelby Felder and Livestock Technician Tesla Trammell are examples of those who work on this farm.

Drue Collins, a Western Kentucky University graduate student from Bowling Green, Kentucky, has had optic nerve hypoplasia all her life. Despite the condition worsening her vision, she continues to push through life accompanied by her guide dog, Tweed.
